Woodies Work on Wishes
The Woodies WOW! Working on Wishes fundraiser took place throughout the country. Their aim was to raise enough money to grant 37 children’s wishes. That’s one wish for each of their 37 stores nationwide.
To help, iQ Branding Solutions printed and packed up all the banners, posters and leaflets for each store.
Woodies appealed to their customers and members of the public to donate in-store or on Woodies.ie to Make-A-Wish, run a fundraiser or spread the WOW!
The ‘WOW! Working on Wishes’ fundraiser had two aspects, a grueling road cycle and a static nationwide in-store bike challenge.
The Nationwide in-store static cycle, where store colleagues made up “tag teams” on static bikes, ran until the 22nd August. The road cycle started in Woodies, Tallaght on Thursday 27th August ending in Woodies, Limerick City on 31st August.
The road cycle covered 1,500KM, the equivalent of traveling across the state of California and saw two cycling teams taking on the ambitious challenge of cycling to all 37 Woodies stores in just 5 days.
Chief Executive of Woodies, Declan Ronayne said, “We expect the cycle to push us to the limits of our ability. However, we are taking on the challenge to work together for a great cause to grant wishes to children living with life-threatening medical conditions. It’s a team effort to support the amazing charity Make-A-Wish and the children they serve. This will give us the determination to drive on during the tough moments I’m sure.”
Chief Executive at Make-A-Wish, Susan O’Dwyer added, “This is a huge undertaking by Woodies colleagues and we cannot thank them enough for their efforts. Partnerships such as this are critical for the charity. We receive no government funding relying entirely on the generosity of the community. This is an ambitious target and on behalf of all our wish children, I would like to wish everyone the best of luck. Enjoy and thank you. Every cent raised will go towards granting the wishes of some amazing children.”
